Some problems never show on the surface.
A wall can look perfect and be soaking behind the lining. A ceiling can look insulated and have a metre of bare gib doing nothing. A switchboard can look fine and be running hot. The eye, and even a spot check, can walk straight past all of it.
A thermal camera reads the temperature underneath the look of a thing, so the cold patch, the gap and the hot spot show up as a picture. It is how you find the problem that a standard look is built to miss.

Temperature differences give away things a visual check cannot see. This is what a thermal survey is looking for.
Hidden moisture
Damp areas behind walls, floors and ceilings often read at a different temperature to dry ones, which flags them. We confirm anything that points to water with a moisture meter.
Insulation gaps
Missing, settled or thin insulation in ceilings and walls shows up as a cold patch where the warmth is escaping, even when it all looks fine from the room.
Draughts and air leaks
Cold air getting in around windows, doors, junctions and the bottom of walls, the leaks that make a room feel cold no matter how hard the heater works.
Electrical hot spots
A connection or circuit at the switchboard running hotter than it should, which can point to a fault or a fire risk, imaged and referred to an electrician.
Heat loss
The bigger picture of where a home is losing its warmth, useful when a house is always cold or expensive to heat and you want to know why.

Cold, damp and draughty is the default for a lot of Auckland housing, older homes with thin or settled insulation, the plaster and monolithic homes of the leaky building era, and a humid climate that hides damp well. A thermal scan is the deeper tool for the questions a standard look cannot answer: why a room is always cold, how far a damp patch really spreads, whether the insulation is doing anything, or whether a switchboard is running hot.

Thermal imaging reads temperature across a whole area and reveals patterns, including damp, insulation gaps and air leaks, that a spot reading would miss. Thermal shows you where to look, and the meter confirms moisture where it matters.
It can flag electrical hot spots, a connection or circuit running hotter than it should, which can point to a fault or a fire risk. We image and locate it, and refer it to a registered electrician to confirm and fix. We do not carry out electrical work.
Thermal imaging needs a temperature difference between inside and outside to read well, so conditions on the day matter, recent rain, sun on the walls and the indoor and outdoor temperatures all affect what the camera sees. We work with the conditions and note anything that limits the scan.
