A Datum drone roof survey flies the whole roof with a high resolution camera, no ladder and no one standing on the tiles, and hands you a report of the imagery and what it shows the same day. A drone roof check is also included in every full Datum building inspection.
The roof is the most expensive thing nobody looks at.
It is out of sight, awkward to reach and risky to climb, so it is the part of a house that most often goes unchecked, right up until water starts coming through the ceiling. A lifted ridge, a rusted valley or a tired flashing rarely shows from the ground.
Seen early, from above, those are a small repair. Left until they show up inside, they are a ceiling, a roof, and the framing in between.

Roof covering
Tiles, metal, membrane and shingles, checked close up for cracked, lifted, missing, rusted or worn areas across the whole surface, not just the bit you can see.
Flashings and junctions
Ridges, hips, valleys and the flashings where the roof meets walls and changes plane, the junctions where most roof leaks actually start.
Penetrations
Flues, vents, skylights and aerials, and the seals and flashings around them, a small detail that lets in a lot of water when it fails.
Gutters and downpipes
Seen from above and along their length, checked for blockages, sagging, rust and the overflow marks that point to water going where it should not.
Chimneys and parapets
Masonry, capping and the junctions around chimneys and parapet walls, where cracks open up and quietly let water track down inside.

- Flights depend on the weather, and high wind or heavy rain can push the flight to the next safe window
- We image and report what is visible from above, we do not get on the roof or carry out repairs
